The Voice of Business for Hastings, St Leonards and the surrounding area
Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business for Hastings, St Leonards and the surrounding area, representing its members to all levels of government and to community leaders across the statutory, community, voluntary and charitable sectors. Our overriding aim is to make the voice of business even stronger We work on behalf of our members, to grow the economy of the town and the wider region in order to create a more supportive environment for businesses to operate in – irrespective of their size, sector or age achieving this in the following ways.
Who are we and what do we do?
Through a variety of strategically important channels and access to Members of Parliament, including local MPs Amber Rudd and Huw Merriman.
We are key members of strategically important groups such as the Higher Education Taskforce and Amber Rudd’s High Speed Rail Working Group.
Hastings Borough Council also consults with us on a range of topics.
As a Member of the Alliances of Chambers in East Sussex we have worked closely with Chambers across East Sussex on many key issues including road and rail improvements, education and BREXIT.
The Chamber regularly debates key local, regional and national issues that affect businesses, whatever their size or sector.
Over the past year these have included BREXIT, Brighton University’s decision to exit the Hastings Campus, Katy Bourne Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Hastings Borough Council’s budget setting.
Our highly popular monthly breakfast meetings and networking events regularly attract attendances of 70+. It’s a fantastic way to network, meet like-minded business people and find out what is happening around your area.
As well as attracting high profile speakers and decision makers such as Amber Rudd MP, Katy Bourne PCC, and Chris Brodie South East Local Enterprise Partnership Chair, we also provide a dedicated page in the Observer newspaper’s monthly Business Matters supplement.
In addition we produce regular e-newsletters containing a broad range of relevant subjects affecting business and member’s own news.
Through a variety of electronic, hard copy and physical channels we help to raise your businesses’ profile.
We feature Members’ through Business Matters and the Platinum Business Magazine. Whilst our meetings and newsletters also enable us to share your good news stories.
The HACC Team
Sean oversees the Chamber of Commerce. Leading on meeting and event content, he is responsible for the development and growth of the Chamber, ensuring the voice of the Chamber and their members is heard going forward.
Clive is the charismatic face of the Chamber, chairing monthly meetings in his unique style with great humour and passion for the local business community; his role also includes representing us on a number of local and strategic development boards.
Christie assists Sean with the organising of meetings/events, bookings, memberships, the newsletter and other administrative tasks.
Jay assists the team with reception duties at meetings.
