What a great day to do business ~ a Chamber meeting with over 100 attendees; followed by over 80 exhibitors and hundreds of visitors at the Hastings Expo 2017 plus the launch of a highly valuable business grant scheme.
After the summer recess a packed Chamber audience returned to network, promote and learn how one of the last European funded business grants can help them grow.
Cllr Keith Glazier, Leader of East Sussex County, launched the exciting new grant scheme which provides up to £10,000 of funding towards eligible spend. The South East Business Boost (SEBB) programme will deliver over £2M worth of investment and is designed to help small and medium sized businesses to fund a wide range of capital items to help increase sales, improve productivity and boost profitability.
Delivered locally by Business East Sussex further information can be found on their website www.businesseastsussex.org.uk
You cannot fail to have heard about the potentially transformational plans for a £0.5m harbour in Hastings Old Town. From those we have spoken to the general response seems to be one of cautious support, the main debate seems to be where it should be located.
If successful it proposes to be a significant boost for the local economy including jobs, housing and another very valuable draw for the town; but clearly there is a long way to go with many practical and logistical implications, let alone a variety of sensitivities in the proposed area.
So we have invited the developers ~ Hastings Harbour Quarter (HHQ) ~ to tell the Chamber exactly what their plans are and how they will make this happen.
HHQ are very keen to engage with the local business community to hear your views and receive your input to their proposals.
So whatever your views this is bound to be a fascinating look into their proposals. Members, their business guests and visitors are as always welcome to this meeting at Hastings Pier on 19th October.
